Flight Adventure Deck Redesign

Soaring Into the Future: Flight Adventure Deck Unveils Plans for a Bold Redesign!
Pensacola, FL — The National Naval Aviation Museum is thrilled to unveil a brand-new logo for one of its most beloved educational experiences — the Flight Adventure Deck (FAD)! This bold new visual identity comes as part of a $1.2 million, multi-year redesign of the STEM-focused exhibit that has already inspired more than 120,000 students from across Northwest Florida and beyond.
For nearly 30 years, FAD has connected students with the science and history of aviation in a way that’s hands-on, exciting, and unforgettable. Hosted right here in the museum and taught by certified educators, the program combines aerodynamics, math, physics, and Naval Aviation history to ignite curiosity and inspire future engineers, aviators, and innovators.
🛩️ What Makes Flight Adventure Deck So Special?
Established in 1996, the Flight Adventure Deck (FAD) was created through a partnership between Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation. For nearly 30 years, from August through May, FAD has offered standards-based field trips for students in grades 6–8 from both counties serving more than 120,000 local students.
These one-day field trips immerse students in curriculum aligned with state standards, developed and taught by local math and science teachers. During their visit, students explore the history of flight and engage with STEM concepts such as air pressure, aerodynamics, buoyancy, weather, propulsion, and more—using unique, hands-on devices designed to reinforce these ideas in a memorable, interactive way.
In 2008, FAD expanded its educational offerings with the launch of the Flight Adventure Deck STEM Camp—a one-of-a-kind, aviation-themed day camp held in the museum’s dedicated FAD space. At these camps, participants:
· Build and launch their own rockets
· Construct gliders
· Tour aircraft and exhibits
· Watch a Blue Angels practice
· Experience immersive films in our Giant Screen Theater
· Fly F-35s in our Sims Bay flight simulators with leadership from NAS Pensacola Volunteer Officers
These action-packed, week-long sessions offer a one-of-a-kind blend of STEM education and real-world aviation exposure, all for just $200 per camper ($175 for military families). Each camper receives a t-shirt, logbook, lanyard, name badge, and more — not to mention an unforgettable experience that often inspires lifelong dreams.
“The Flight Adventure Deck has become a rite of passage for local students — where learning takes flight, and imaginations soar.”
