Join Us for Scout Saturday at the National Naval Aviation Museum!

The National Naval Aviation Museum is excited to announce its fourth annual Scout Saturday, taking place on September 7 from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. This engaging event is open to 45 Scouts aged 11 to 17 and offers a unique opportunity to earn the coveted Aviation Merit Badge while enjoying a day filled with hands-on activities and informative presentations.

Event Highlights

Scout Saturday promises an exciting lineup of activities designed to inspire and educate. Participants will engage in:

  1. Aerodynamics: Explore the principles of flight and how they apply to various aircraft.
  2. Navigation: Learn the basics of navigation and how pilots determine their course.
  3. F-35 Flight Simulation: Experience the thrill of flying with our state-of-the-art flight simulators.
  4. Careers Presentations: Discover the diverse career paths available in aviation and naval operations.
  5. Foam Plate Glider Design and Construction: Put your creativity to the test by designing and building your own glider.
  6. Museum Tour: Enjoy a guided tour of our extensive collection of aircraft and naval aviation exhibits.

Important Information

Base Access:

Visitors without a DoD ID must enter NAS Pensacola through the WEST GATE (Blue Angel Parkway) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please note that non-DOD ID holders will not be permitted to enter the gate after 3 p.m. If you are dropping off your Scout, ensure you return before 3 p.m. to pick them up.

Lunch:

Participants should bring a sack lunch (including an unopened or secure drink) that does not require refrigeration, as lunch will not be provided.
Schedule:

  1. Check-in: 9:00 – 9:20 a.m. at the Small Theatre near Cubi Café.
  2. Check-out: 3:15 p.m. at the Small Theatre near Cubi Café.
  3. Blue Card Signing: 3:15 – 3:45 p.m. at the Small Theatre near Cubi Café.

Scouts aiming to earn their Aviation Merit Badge should ensure their Blue Cards are ready for signing by our merit badge counselors during the designated time.

Additional Notes:
  1. All adults and chaperones must be on an authorized contact list for Scouts to be released to their care.
  2. IDs are required to board NAS Pensacola and to pick up Scouts at the end of the day.
  3. All Scouts and chaperones must exit the building by 4 p.m.
